Summer Camp

This past year the troop attended the first week of summer camp at Camp Russell. Eight scouts and a few leaders attended and had a great time. The boys did everything from swimming to leather working. The boys all reported that they had a fun time at summer camp.

The boys had a very busy week. Each day the youngest scout attended Russell Rangers where they learned new skills that will benefits them the rest of their lives.

The older scouts ether took two Merit badges(MB) or one 2 hour MB before lunch. Between merit badges scouts had time to work on projects or homework. Scout were also able to take part in free swim, free shoot, and many other events during their free time. The afternoons were filled with MB and even more time to have fun . I am very proud of all my scouts in Troop 31 I hope we have many more scout at next year summer camp.

As the pattern goes we should be attending camp Cederlands this year, but due to several discussions and thought I have decided that we will be attending Camp Russell again this year. That camp will give the scouts a week of fun that will provide an experience that the boys will remember for a life time while also providing a challage for the older scouts. They will be able to attend merit badge classes which will sparks the boy’s interest. The older scout will be able to take part in High adventure activities. The scouts will be able to go biking , mountain climbing and many new experiences and challenges in the day tripper program. Camp Cederlands is a high adventure camp and there for will take a lot of planing and work before we attend next year. As the time gets closer to summer camp I will ask that parent to attend all meeting about summer camp so we make this years summer camp experience as easy as possible.
